The last few weeks in London we have experienced snow, wind and rain. A hat, scarf and gloves have become my uniform to brave the cold weather. No way am I leaving my house without my aviator jacket to keep myself nice and snuggly. Luckily my skin and hair have been holding up well despite the harsh elements. In the morning and at night I have been pretty good at sticking to a haircare and skin routine to maintain a winter glow and stop my hair from drying out. I have been using some new products that have helped me to achieve clearer skin and a healthy scalp. Pukka Castor Oil Every natralista knows the amazing benefits of castor oil, such as stimulating hair growth and improving blood circulation of the scalp. However not all castor oils are up to the same standard. Who cares if it is not the purest form of castor oil? Well you will not gain the maximum nutrients from the product to grow your hair, as most are mixed with other oils and are not organic or cold-pressed. I am becoming increasing conscious of the ingredients of products as I want to know what exactly I am putting on my hair and body. I am always looking out for the ingredients on the label. Pukka castor oil is one hundred percent pure castor oil. It has the usual strong distinctive smell of the oil; I have been using castor oil for so long now that I have become immune to the smell. I use the oil on my edges and nape of my hair twice a day. Once a week I apply it sparingly to my scalp while I am wearing protective styles. My hair has really maintained the moisture due to the oil acting as a barrier to the cold weather. Also the Pukka castor oil has kept my hairline extremely soft in comparison to previous brands I have used in the past. The more moisturised it remains the less likely breakage will occur. I also use the oil on my body immediately after showering, after two months my skin is so much clearer and smoother. I occasionally use the oil on my face, by applying small drops, this is because castor oil is a heavy thick oil that can leave you feeling really greasy if you over use it on the face. Palmers Natural Fusion Palmers have released a new line of hair care products called Natural Fusion. So far I have only tried The Mallow Root Leave-In Conditioner while my hair has been braided. I had never heard of this plant before and wondered if it was just another haircare fad, as lately hair care companies are coming out with products with all types of weird and wonderful ingredients to get our coins. So what does Mallow root actually do for my hair? Well mallow root helps to heal, protect and hydrate the hair. Great for someone like me who has just experienced an episode of breakage. The Mallow Root Leave-In Conditioner smell is so light it is almost non-existent, but this is not a bad thing as not everyone likes overpowering fragranced hair products. What I really like about the spray leave in conditioner is it is extremely hydrating which is perfect in the winter months. The first time I used it I did not have much confidence that it would work as the formula is not heavy. I was really sceptical that this would work on my kinky hair texture, but on my 4C hair it has stopped it from drying out. I have just finished my first bottle using it in the morning and at night and I will definitely be buying another one. Once I remove my protective style I will be trying out other products from the line. Happy Naturals Sea Minerals Body Polish
This stuff is packed with natural goodies, such as aloe vera, ginger root and peppermint. The ingredients list is 97% natural and the remainder are the preservatives used to keep the product fresh. I use the body polish a few times a week to exfoliate my skin. I use it religiously after shaving or waxing and it helps reduced those annoying little bumps and it keeps my skin so smooth. The body scrub granules are the perfect size to remove dead skin cells without being harsh and irritating on the skin. The Happy Naturals skincare brand have been releasing a wider product range and everything I have tried recently has been amazing and become a staple in my beauty routine, this includes the body polish.
