Keeping your scalp clean is an essential part of looking after your hair. A clean scalp promotes healthy hair and leads to growth. To clean the scalp you need to use a product that can cleanse the scalp thoroughly enough to remove hair products and dirt that have built up over the weeks. A regular shampoo will just not do the job, as they only clean your hair to a certain degree. You need to use a clarifying shampoo or a natural product that can strip the scalp and hair. Natural ingredients can do a great job or even perform better than shampoos.
I clarify my scalp every six to eight weeks. At this time I start to notice when my hair stops responding to products as it did before, it might appear limp or your desired style just looks crusty even though you have taken the same steps you always do to achieve that look. Here are some natural ways I use to keep my scalp clean, allowing my hair to stay healthy from root to tip. Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay If you want a more natural way of clarifying your hair you should try The Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay. This is a calcium bentonite clay which works by drawing out the impurities from the scalp. After using the clay you will notice that your hair will not only feel really clean and soft, but also the appearance of your kinks will be extremely defined. To use the product you have to add equal parts of the clay, Apple Cider Vinegar, and water. Once a paste is formed add to the scalp and hair and leave for ten minutes before rinsing out. The clay is great value for money as it can also be used on the body and is gentle enough to be used on the face as a detox mask. The only downside I found to using The Aztec Secret Indian Healing Clay was it can get a little bit messy in the bathroom as the clay got everywhere. Apple Cider Vinegar Rinse The Apple Cider Vinegar Rinse is my absolute favourite way of clarifying. It is quick and easy to apply. Simply by adding one part Apple Cider Vinegar and three parts warm water it works wonders. Add the mixture to the hair concentrating on the scalp and leave for ten minutes before washing out. On rinsing out the Apple Cider Vinegar the hair instantly feels refreshed. I then continue my normal hair washing routine of shampoo, protein treatment and deep conditioning. My kinks and coils are really easy to detangle throughout the whole washing process as a result of using the rinse. My hair is left feeling soft, shiny, and it is easy to manage when styling.
