Recently I have been sticking to my skincare routine and I am seeing amazing results... I have noticed that since adding a facial routine once a week, my skin has been glowing and is so much clearer. I just love a nice facial and it is so easy to recreate the spa experience at home with products that contain natural and nourishing ingredients. Follow my step by step routine using natural and organic products which help to nourish the skin. Self-care Sunday just got a lot more fun with my at home facial routine. Once completed you will have soft and glowing skin. 1. Set the scene Light your favourite candle or use an essential oil to help to uplift your mood. I also love playing some relaxing music to really allow me to chill out on self-care Sunday. Self-care is so important, we all must find some time to slow down from our busy lives, look after ourselves not only physically but also mentally. 2. Cleanse Every facial should start off with removing any dirt or make up to commence with clean skin. My go to cleanser is the Evercalm Gentle Cleansing Milk by Ren. The milk thoroughly removes my make-up whilst also being gentle on the skin. It contains natural ingredients and oils such as blackcurrant seed oil. Oil based cleansers work better at removing make up. The formula also helps with skin irritation and damage from the environmental pollutants. Begin by massaging the milk onto the face with your hands. Then remove with warm water. After cleansing with the Evercalm Gentle Cleansing Milk my skin is immediately soft and clean. 3. Exfoliate Next I use Sukin Natural Revitalising Facial Scrub. Exfoliating removes dead skin cells from the surface of the face to reduce pores clogging up and breakouts occurring. The Sukin facial scrub does not contain harmful microbeads that can pollute the water system, but instead contains biodegradable bamboo extract and walnut shell powder. Place the cream based formula onto the fingers and in a circular motion gently massage onto the face. Then rinse with warm water. 4. Steam This is my favourite part of my at home facial, so simple but yet so effective. Soak a flannel or Muslim cloth under warm water and then place the damp cloth over the face. I repeat this process few times to really open up the pores. 5. Mask Using a sheet mask is the perfect time to put your feet up and relax. I am currently using Seoulista Beauty Brightening Instant Facial which is infused with vitamin C. I selected this mask to help to brighten my skin. Vitamin C is great for hydrating the skin and improving the appearance of your skin tone. I place the sheet mask on for twenty minutes and then use the excess serum on my neck and hands. Once the mask has been removed just gently massage the remaining serum into the skin and allow to dry. I tailor my face mask depending on how my skin is at that moment. If I am suffering from a lot of blemishes or acne I would opt for a more clarifying face mask that contains ingredients such as black soap. A favourite of mine is Shea Moisture African Soap Clarifying Mud Mask. 6. Moisturise
The last step is to add a moisturiser and then to seal it in. I use Marks and Spencer’s Super Hydrate Day Cream from the Pure range. 95% of the ingredients are natural and all of the products have no artificial colours or fragrances. I then use a few drops of a Bybi Bakuchiol Booster as a little goes a long way. I place the drops into the palm of my hands and then massage into my skin. Bakuchiol is a plant based alternative to retinol, I have been using this oil for a long time now and it has really helped to make my skin smooth. Just follow these steps and after a few weeks of performing a home facial you will start to notice the difference in the appearance of your skin. You do not have to go into a salon to become better looking. It helps, but with a little bit of effort, you can still do things. I know that there are people who do not like working hard, but that is just weird to me. You are willing to spend money on other stuff, but you do not want to do it for yourself? I seriously hope that we can do a lot of great things if we just try.
