Primal Beauty is a UK natural hair and skincare brand that produces amazing clean products...
I discovered the brand earlier this year and I am a huge fan of the skincare range, especially the Pure Shea and Cocoa butter cream. I decided to try out the natural hair care products for the first time during my wash day. What I especially love about The Primal Beauty brand is that the products contain all natural ingredients and they are affordable. As I have been slowly incorporating more natural products into my daily lifestyle I have noticed that purchasing natural products can mean you are spending more, even for everyday beauty and hair essentials. It’s great that Primal beauty have produced a brand with simple ingredients that are effective and economical for my wallet.

I started off my wash routine by cleansing my hair with the Black Soap Shampoo. Recently I have been doing a lot of styles that require using gel on my 4C hair, after one week I can start to get product build up that needs to be clarified. The Black Soap Shampoo was brilliant at cleansing my hair thoroughly without drying it out. I tend to do two shampoo rinses for my wash routine and afterwards my kinks were still soft and hydrated. Even better there were minimal knots as my hair usually starts to knot up quickly during the shampoo process.
The ingredient list for the shampoo contains all of the natural goodies that my hair loves, number one is shea butter. The shampoo also contains castor oil and sweet almond oil. Out of all of the products I tried during my wash day the Black Soap Shampoo is my number one pick.

The next step was using the conditioner. The Primal Beauty brand has two conditioners on their website, there is a hydrating or a detangling conditioner. I opted for the Intensive Detangling Conditioner which is sulphate free and packed with lovely essential oils, like lemongrass which is my favourite. The conditioner was thick and creamy and it made the detangling process a breeze. I find the most tedious part of my wash day is the detangling process and this conditioner had so much slip on my hair it was easy to separate the knots with a detangling brush. I also used the conditioner during the deep treatment phase with a steam cap, as unfortunately I was unable to purchase the leave in conditioner when I was in the store. Despite this the end result was defined moisturised kinks.

The final step was using the Calm Coil Detangling Spray, which I used as my leave in to keep my hair hydrated. I have actually been using this product for a while now when my hair was in protective styles and it has been great at maintaining moisture, especially as the season has changed to a drier and colder climate in London. The formula contains Meadowfoam seed oil which helps to lock in moisture. The formula is so light and refreshing and it does not weigh down my hair. I was able to easily separate my strands to prep for a twist out.
The only issue I found with the products I used is I would prefer a sweeter smell, especially with the Calm Coil Detangling Spray, but this is just a personal preference as I love my hair products to have a distinctive smell. Overall the Primal Beauty hair care range was amazing for my 4C hair, in particular it left my hair feeling extremely soft and much easier to style afterwards.
All the products are easily accessible via the Primal Beauty website or on Amazon UK.
