A few months ago I attended a Cantu Natural Hair Soiree and was gifted with a lovely gift bag which contained full sized products from their Cantu Shea Butter for natural hair line, some of the products I had never tried before. Cantu are on point in providing amazing products that provide moisture, softens and defines the hair. As usual the products contain no harsh chemicals, sulfates, silicones, parabens or mineral oils. Also importantly they are affordable, which is brilliant for a product junkie like me. One of the full size products included in the bag was the Define and Shine Custard. This was the first time I had ever tried a styling custard and I was a little sceptical if it could provide definition and hold to 4c hair due to the consistency of the custard. The product surpassed my expectations. The Define and Shine Custard is amazing!! The custard has a very runny gloopy texture and you only require a small amount for each section of hair. This product does the job. Even with just applying the product without styling there was instant definition of my coils, especially at the ends of my hair. Once applied I was left with soft twists, which were easy to separate and the hold remained. There was minimal frizz and the end result was bouncy, defined coils. There was even definition after a few days on an old twist out with a non- greasy feeling. The smell is the same as the rest of the line, not too strong or over powering. The custard also worked well when other products were applied to rejuvenate the hair, such as oils or leave-in conditioners. The only downside I found from the product was it can cause flaking, I found this out the hard way when my stylist aka my mother applied too much product to my hair for a braid out and the next day I looked like I had the worst case of dandruff. So ladies if you stick to using the small amounts of the custard you can’t go wrong. I have been able to achieve the most amazing defined twist outs ever!
Cantu Define and Shine Custard is definitely a keeper. #lovecantu
