Hi guys I have just returned from the gorgeous island of Mykonos. For one week I chilled out on this picturesque island scattered with white houses on the hill tops surrounded by clear waters. Every direction I looked always offered an amazing view. If you are looking for a place to relax by day at the pool or beach and party at night; then Mykonos is the place for you. The season starts in May so the island was not too busy with tourists, but there was still a nice atmosphere in Mykonos town were most bars and restaurants are located. Mykonos town is a pretty maze of winding streets filled with a variety of shops and places to eat. The shops range from high end designers to high street shops, along with souvenir shops. I must say that I could not resist participating in some retail therapy and I have come home contemplating beans on toast for the next month to make up for my splurge. The food on the island is amazing; with a huge variety of places to eat. Every evening I ventured into the town to try a new restaurant followed up by my complementary shot! Which seems to be common place in all of the eateries. The gyro restaurants were my favourite places to eat followed up by gelato and waffles. I am all about the beach life and there are numerous beaches on the island each offering a different vibe. Weather you a looking to chill, party, do some water sports, or go nude! Mykonos has a beach for it. One of the more popular beaches is Paradise beach. 4pm and boom! The beach parties begin and don’t stop until sun rises, however I never made it until that time as my days of hard core partying are well behind me. The music ranges from reggaeton, hip hop, to dance and the bar staff are really interactive with everyone to get the party started. I also ventured to Elia beach while exploring the island by boat and took a brief dip in the clear waters, and I emphasize on brief as at this time of the year the sea is still extremely cold. A boat tour of the island is a must, cruising around the island was the highlight of the holiday. Other ways to explore the island are by car or moped. The most popular way is hiring a quad bike. A great place to spend the evening is Little Venice. This area is definitely worth visiting as the sun is going down; the views were stunning as I watched from the waterside bars whilst sipping on a cocktail.
The whole island has a glamourous feel and the service is amazing. Even though the island has a luxury feeling it still can be done affordably. In the future I would definitely return to Mykonos but would most likely do island hopping to explore the surrounding islands. I have been home for a week and I am already planning my next adventure. Any ideas? Caron X
